art

I like any type of art. Anything could be art. Some people think that just paintings, sculptures, drawings and other things of that sort are the only things that are art. I personally think everything is art. Earlier this week in my English class we wrote about graffiti and I kind of wanted to expand on it. Last year my friend and I always drew tags (or words wrote in graffiti form) and tried to see who was better. He was a little better at it then me but I was still fun. I mainly did it because it was fun and I love to draw. I think part of the reason why some people do it on other people property and buildings, is because when you do it in the public then every body is going to see it. It’s like why would you want to do it on paper for only very few people see or where everybody could see it.

I like to draw mainly pencil sketches. I think my best drawing I have done is a flower that I drew for a friend. I was weird how good I came out considering that I did it in the dark only using the light from my phone. Lately I have been doing more like cartoon sketches then I use to. When I see someone else’s art work and I understand what there trying to say threw that piece I get all exited. I get the same feeling when I hear a song that I really like. I music is another way of expressing art. For the quick writes that we do in English class we do a lot about painting. I like trying to figure out what the painter was thinking as they were drawing the painting. I think we should do more quick writes about art work.

LA to mexico

A couple of years ago I went to New York for a cruise to the Bahamas which I wrote about in a past blog. But I also went to Las Angels to go on a cruise to Mexico. In this this trip I went with my mom and dad but I also went with my best friend and her brother and there parents. There basically like family to me. The plane ride to LA was crazy. The plane was the smallest I have even been in there was three seats in a isle and like 20 isles. My friend was trippin about going on the plane cause it was so small. Once we got to LA we went strait to the docking place where the cruise ship was. Just getting into the ship is such a hassle with the pass ports, bags, and the security. The ship that we were staying on way once the biggest ship that carnival ever had but that past month they built a new ship which stole ours ships spot. The theme of the ship was like the renaissance-ish. I don’t know how to describe it really. There was a lot of paintings every were.
The ship had 3 or 4 pools and A LOT of food. I think I gained twenty pounds in that week. Every night me and my friend would eat three or four ice cream cones each. I liked getting dressed up for dinners. And we had to do that a couple of times on the cruise. We took a lot of pictures on the cruise when we were at Mexico and on the ship. The cruise ship had a water slide, I didn’t ride it. I have no idea why. There was a mini golf course and a basket ball court and a volleyball court too. There was clubs for adults, 18 years and older clubs, clubs for my age and like day cares for younger kids. Being with my best friend on that trip was funny along with my family and hers was even better.

focus group

On this last Tuesday, December 1, my friend invited me and 3 others to do a focus group in San Francisco. For people that don’t know what a focus group is, it is like a survey for a company so they can do research and improve their company and what not. When we were at the place waiting to go in we were offered drinks and snacks. I had a Dr. pepper. One we were in side we were in a very open room with a bright colored stylish couch a table and a seat for the lady to talk to us. We were introduced to the lady that was interviewing us, and we sat down.

The main thing that they were interviewing us about was on ways that people communicate, mainly teenagers and adults. They asked us about how we would communicate, what would we do if face book stopped working, if texting would also stop. I would personally freak out if texting just stopped but I would live. Then the lady told us to write down the most common ways we us to communicate. I chose: texting, calling, face book, and myspace and aiming. (or AOL instant messaging) then the lady gave us various situations that we would need to communicate. Situations like: if we had something important to tell a friend, if we had to tell a relative something and other situations like that. Then she asked us why we chose it and what would be the next source we would use if we didn’t have the one we choose. We had to do a lot of explaining and analyzing when we had something to say. The weirdest part of the whole thing was when the lady told us that the mirror behind her was actually a one way mirror. When she told us we couldn’t stop looking at it. The best part of the whole thing was at the end each one of got $85 each. I would defiantly do it again.

about my doggie

Long time ago my family and I had a dog named Dude. When we went on a vacation we left him with my grand parents. When they were going back to there house Dude was in the back of the truck. In the middle of the ride home Dude jumped out of the back of the truck when their were on the freeway. My grandparents felt so bad that they bought me another dog, which is my dog now.
His name is Simba, he is a golden retriever and a shar pei mix, He has black fur but he has like gray hairs around his mouth so it kind of looks like a beard. Simba is a small dog couple feet tall. He is about 11 years old so that is about 77 years old in dog years. My dog is train well. He can sit, lay down (sometimes), and he can shake your hand. He knows what walk means and bath but he doesn’t like baths at all. If you say goodie he starts to get all excited and jumps around because he likes dog treats.
In the summers my family and I go on camping trips and we bring Simba with us. Car rides are not his favorite thing to do. He doesn’t stick his head out the window like ordinary dogs. When we are at the camp site he always chases the birds and squires. When me and my dad go to the lake to fish we bring him with us. He tries to hide in the corner of the boat because he knows that he going to go for a swim. I think that he is afraid of many things. Like he is afraid to do a lot of things especially anything to do with water.

My New Goals

In my past 9 blogs that I have wrote in two month I have changed what I said I would write about. In the beginning I said that I would write about baseball music and skateboarding, but I ended up writing about my past vacations. I wrote about my vacations because I found it was much easier to write. I was forcing myself to come up with things to say about baseball. I also did not know what to say about skating about music.
My goals in the beginning of the year have also change and also been added too. In the beginning of the year I wanted to increase my vocabulary and also learn how to expand in my writing. I am learning how to cut pieces of my writing to make it sound more fluid and to cut back on repeating things I have said. Now I still want to increase my vocabulary but also learn to say my ideas in a way that makes sense. Usually when I try to write I start writing things down but then realize that I does not make any sense. I think this is one of my main problems in writing.
In the future I think I will continue writing about my trips and vacations but also write about things that are happening in the world news wise. In one of my blogs I wrote about the Japanese Government and there election. I get pretty interested in this kind of stuff. For me to reach my goals I am going to start writing slower and more read through my work more carefully. For my other two goals I will use the list of word that we got in class and try to put some new words in my future writing. I will also keep trying to use what I was taught and cutting my sentences to make them shorter.

New York

My family and I were in New York for a couple days during a summer vacation. We were going on a cruise to the Caribbean, and New York is we were porting from. When we got out of the airport we took a cab to the hotel. The traffic was insane. Good thing our driver was an aggressive driver or we would have got anywhere. Finally we got to the hotel we stayed in this hotel that was in the middle of two other buildings. There was no space on between them. The room was slightly small but I did not care. From the window of the room I think you could see the Empire State Building but I was not sure if it was or not. I can remember walking around in New York, it is very different then here in Alameda. It seemed like New York went on forever, I could have easily gotten lost. There was a lot of side stands on the side walk and there was barely any room to walk.
One of the days that we were in New York we went to see Ground Zero. Which is were terrorist’s crashed an airplane into the Twin Tower on October eleventh. It was both amazing and very emotional to be able to stand less then 100 feet away from where the building use to be. A lot of Ground Zero was blocked off because there was construction going on.
When I am older I would like to go back to New York and do more exploring and site seeing. For the little time that I was in New York I saw many new things and sites. After the three days my family and I were off on a cruise ship on our way to the Caribbean.

The Grand Canyon

One year my family and I went on a trip to the Grand Canyon for Christmas. The beginning of the trip was very boring. The drive there took two days; at one point of the drive we were on the rode of 14 hours. The whole drive I was listening to music and sleeping. Before we got to the Grand Canyon we stayed in Laughlin, Nevada for a day or two, but went right back on the rode. I can remember when we were about half an hour away from the Grand Canyon, and the movie Forrest Gump ran threw my mind. We were on the rode that Forrest was running on when he decided to run back and forth across the country. It was pretty cool cause that is my favorite movie.
When we got to the Grand Canyon we stayed in a hotel down the rode. On the fourth day we went to go on a hike on the south side of the Grand Canyon. I took many pictures of the Canyon with my family. At one point my dad took me to the edge of this cliff thinking there was other cliffs at the bottom, but when we looked down there was a straight drop to the very bottom of the canyon. Surprisingly my dad, the one who is afraid of heights, stays by the edge and takes pictures of it. I thought he was crazy. Just the scene of the Canyon was just beautiful. When we went there it was just before they built the walk way that goes out off the edge of the canyon. Without a doubt I would have gone out there and walk on it.
This this trip was really fun to go on with my family. Even though it was pretty boring in the beginning I still had a lot of fun.

Disney World

In 2005 was my second time taking a trip on my Christmas vacation. That year I went to Disney World in Orlando, Florida with my Mom and Dad. I have been to Disney Land before but never been to Disney world. The first day there we went to Magic Kingdom. We watched the usual parade in front of Cinderella’s castle. I can remember going to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and I started to rain really hard. I liked this one ride that went all around the theme park. In one point of the time we went in Magic Mountain and it felt like you were about to go on that ride; I started to get scared because I really did not want to ride it. When we went to get lunch we keep seeing people with chicken drum sticks that were bigger then their head. I thought that it was pretty funny.

The second day we went to Animal Kingdom. We took a boat from Magic Kingdom to there. The one ride that I can remember at that place was a ride that has a really, really long line. It was for a ride where you are on a truck and you go into the safari and see all these live animals. It was fun. That night we went to the Tiki Room. It is a show where birds dance and sing. There not real birds though.

The third day that we were there we went to MGM Studios. I think that this was my favorite theme park that Disney world has in my opinion. The two shows that we saw that to me stud out the most was a 3D movie that was really neat. It was about the beauty and the beast and their was a part that shows food and you can smell it. Also a part that splashes you with water and little machines in front of you squirts water in your face. The second favorite show there was an Indiana Jones show and they show how they made the movie it was quite dandy to watch.

The last day that we were in Disney World we went to Epcot. Epcot had two parts to it one was a space and science and the other is like a world them with all the different countries having a different space to shop and eat at restaurants. The one ride that I went on at Epcot is the ride where you feel like your in a space ship landing on a different planet. I was getting very claustrophobic in there but it was fun. I really liked the ride that shows how technology has changed but the ride is in that big silver ball that is by the sign that says Epcot. When you get there you cannot miss it. This was a fun vacation to spend with my family.

2008 christmas

The last blog that I wrote about was about my Christmas in 2004 but I want to write about my Christmas last year when I went to Tahoe, Nevada. For this trip I went with my family and for the first time my friend went with us. We had to drive to Tahoe which was a slightly long car ride, about four hours. We stayed at a place called Harris which was a hotel and a casino. Our hotel room was really, nice it had two bathrooms. I thought that was really cool. The first full day the weather was nice so we went down the road to Virginia City. It is like an old western town that has shops and restaurants’ to look at. When we got back to the hotel it was later in the day so my friend and I went to play in the snow out side of the hotel. We had a snow ball fight, made a huge snow ball and one night we bought a plastic sled and made a ramp out of snow . By the end my toes were frozen. Since we were there for a week my friend and I started to get bored, so we went to the arcade every night until 2 or 3 in the morning. We must have spent at least $50 each on video games. It was really fun because my parent let us wonder around freely. One time we went to a small shop that was in the hotel. We must have been in there for an hour trying on really weird hats.

One day my dad took us snowboarding it was a good experience except when my friend took the wrong path and we could not find him. Luckily, he got back to the hotel safely. One night we went to this real fancy restaurant and we had escargot which is one of my favorite things to eat. I remember this one day we went outside and there was a blizzard you could even see 10 feet in front of you. It was crazy.

This trip was probably the most fun I had on a vacation just because I had someone there with me to hang out with. I cannot wait for this years’ vacation when I go to Las Vegas with my family and the same friend. I have a feeling that its going to be even better.

why are all the black kids sitting together in the cafeteria

(4.) Though this group of children, almost all of whom were White, did not live near a large Native American population and probably had had little if any personal interaction with American Indians, they all had internalized an image of what Indians were like. How did they know? Cartoon images, in particular the Disney movie Peter Pan, were cited by the children as their number-one source of information. At the age of three, these children already had a set of stereotypes in place. Though I would not describe three-year-olds as prejudiced, the stereotypes to which they have been exposed become the foundation for the adult prejudices so many of us have.

It is weird if you think about 3 year old being prejudice but it happens. The kids were not being prejudice they just were not taught the actual meaning of what American Indians are. I think not knowing what a certain race is and just making an assumption about that race is not prejudice. these kids just guessed what American Indians are they did not really know. If we educate people about other people and races then there will be less stereotypes and less people being predudice.

my christmas vacations

In 2004 was the first time not being home for Christmas. My family and I went on a train trip to Denver, Colorado for a vacation. The train ride was about a day and a half long and it was going to be my first time in a Sleeper (a deluxe room with a bed and a shower). I don’t really remember but I most-likely slept fine. Once we got there, we had to take a taxi to the hotel. That was also the first time I ever took a taxi. The hotel that we stayed in was pretty big but I remember that it had a 13th floor. Across the street was a hockey rink for a professional team, but I don’t remember what team it was. Around the corner was a huge aquarium and we were not to far way from the main streets.
The second day that we were in Colorado we went out to explore. We walked around and went to the various shops. We saw that there was an ice skating rink which we went to later that night. When we were ice skating there were people standing around watching the ice skaters fall. When they did fall, they laughed really loud. I thought they were funny because my Mom fell and they laughed at her. The next day we went out and the news said that there was a big chance that it was going to snow that day. We went to the Denver Zoo and right when we got there, it started to snow. That was the first time that I can remember that I have been outside when snow fell. The zoo was great because there was hardly anyone there. After that day we went to the Aquarium. I remember being able to touch the tops of the sting rays. I also remember going to this part were you can walk through this giant fish tank, it was amazing.
One of the days that we were in Denver it was Christmas and I got to open my presents in the hotel room with my family. That Christmas was on of the most fun Christmas that I have every had, and I got to spend it with my family.

japanese government

Recently the prime minister for japan, Tao Aso, has resigned and his spot is up for grabs. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has governed Japan for the last 50 years, but now Yukio Hatoyama from the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) is a big candidate to win the election. The Democratic Party of Japan has never held office before and because of that reason the voters are skeptical of Yukio Hatoyama as new Prime Minister. Hatoyama has the same belief as our president, Barak Obama, which is "change" and also believes in a flexible government that can adjust to the problems that the japan has to face.
Hatoyama promises many changes like raising the minimum wages to help improve japans historic highs in unemployment. Hiring minimum wages will also help the homelessness in japan which is also at its highest it has ever been in japans history. Hatoyama's plans to improve Japan's economy includes: giving $3000 per child for each family every year, and giving $1000 to every unemployed citizen looking for a job annually. Giving $3000 for every child will supposedly help japan's rapidly shrinking and aging population by encouraging woman to have children.
On September 22, 2009 Hatoyama won the election for prime minister of Japan. Hatoyama say he has mixed feelings for excitement about how he had changed history, and now he has a huge responsibility because of it. He also says now that the first battle is over a new on has begun. When he says this he means the problems that he has to overcome just to keep japan out of recession. Now all Hatoyama has to do is keep his word as the prime minister. Its a little skeptical on where the money that Hatoyama needs to improve Japan's issues but hopefully he keeps his word.

There are many things i want to write about in my blogs. One is about skateboarding and why this sport is different then any other. Skating can also connect to certain other sports. Another topic i would like to write about is music. I listen to a big variety of music. the thing that i like most about music is the meaning of what the song is about. Many people just listen to the beat and how the rhythm sounds; people should start listening to what the artist is trying to say in their song. The third topic that seems like i would like to talk about is sports. Certain sports are more popular then others. Some people think that soccer is the best sport some people think that hockey is the most roughest sport. I want to talk about reasons why people think that way.

The ways that i want to improve in writing is by learning how to expand more in my writing. I want to learn how give better details then then just giving the basic facts that are obvious. Another skill in writing that i would like to improve is better vocabulary. I figure if i knew more words to help explain what i'm trying to say. a bigger vocabulary would also help with my first goal.
